June: Noche de San Juan (St John’s Night)

The Noche de San Juan is one of Nerja’s most anticipated summer celebrations, marking the arrival of summer with bonfires, beach parties, and fireworks. Locals and visitors gather on the beaches, particularly Burriana Beach, to enjoy midnight swims, barbecues, and music. Tradition says that jumping over the bonfires and washing your face in the sea at midnight brings good luck for the year ahead.

July: Virgen del Carmen Festival

🎆 New Year’s Eve at Balcón de Europa – Nerja’s biggest party of the year, with a free concert in the main square, fireworks, and the traditional Spanish “12 grapes at midnight” tradition. Many people gather at the Balcón de Europa to welcome the new year with a spectacular view.
